    Cold outreach failures
    in SaaS

    SaaS is the most represented industry in the archive. It has the most predictable failure mode: VAGUE-ICP and BUZZWORD-LOAD show up together in most cases. The industry has over-templated its outreach to the point where every message sounds identical. SDRs describe their category instead of their product, then ask for 15 minutes before establishing any reason to care.

    // Industry patterns

    What makes SaaS outreach uniquely bad

    Pattern 01: Over-templated ICP

    SaaS SDRs send to the widest possible audience. 'Revenue teams.' 'Growth leaders.' 'Companies like yours.' The industry has confused volume with targeting. Sending 500 identical messages to 'SaaS companies' is not outreach. It is spam with a CRM attached.

    Pattern 02: Buzzwords replacing specifics

    SaaS pitches carry more abstractions per sentence than any other industry in the archive. 'AI-powered.' 'Scalable.' 'Outcomes-driven.' These words describe the category, not the product. When a founder uses ChatGPT to write their LinkedIn DM, this is what comes out.

    Pattern 03: Sequence-first thinking

    SaaS has the highest rate of templated follow-ups. The first message is already generic. The second one is worse. 'Just bumping this to the top of your inbox' is the most common closing offense in SaaS sequences. The breakup email is the second.

    "SaaS has out-optimized itself into invisibility. The sequence is fast. The message is empty."
